I have been a teacher for two years so far and I love it. I studied teaching in Ireland and then worked in schools in the UK for two years before moving to Qatar. For me, the decision to move was a tough one. I had a good job in my previous school and lots of friends. However, the opportunity to work in an international school such as Nord Anglia here in Al Khor was too great to be passed up. I was also intrigued to be a part of the development of the IGCSE curriculum and have the chance to really make my mark as a teacher.
I am a friendly and approachable person who loves to help out. I enjoy sailing, kayaking, camping, rugby and hiking. Being a geographer at heart, I am very keen on the environment and ensuring that everyone can do their bit to help out. I am a family person: I have two brothers back in Ireland whom I really miss, as well as a dog and a cat that I miss as much!
My students would usually say about me that I am kind and always there to help if they have a problem, that I create a positive atmosphere to work in and pay attention to explain things in detail to ensure all understand.
I have never worked in a truly international school before. I am excited for the challenges that it will bring. I have always worked in well-established schools that were not so open to change and think outside the box. I am eager to pitch in and help develop the students and the school to the best that they can be!
