In my spare time, I enjoy cinema and theatre. I particularly enjoy the horror genre. Being an English teacher, naturally I enjoy reading. My favourite authors are Patricia Cornwell, Stephen King, George Orwell and of course, Shakespeare! I love dystopian fiction, and my favourite Shakespeare play has to be Hamlet.
I have a ten-year-old daughter who has moved to Qatar with me, and we are very excited to start this new adventure together. We are looking forward to meeting lots of new people, making new friends and sharing new experiences. The reason why I chose Qatar was because the family-friendly and traditional values it holds appealed to me greatly. I believe that these cultural aspects are so important in providing a stable, safe and positive environment in which to live and bring up children.
Over my career, students have commented that I am good at making ideas, concepts and tasks clear, and my exam classes especially have always said that I make the content and requirements of their exams accessible and understandable. I have high expectations of all students, and have a zero-tolerance approach to any form of disrespect or rudeness in my classroom; be it towards staff or other students. I love being in the school environment, and truly believe that it is the relationships we nurture with our students that make the job so rewarding and enjoyable.
This school will be different to all others I have worked at because it is so culturally diverse. I am excited to be in such a unique environment, and the values NAISAK upholds speak to me very strongly. I feel honoured to be part of such an ambitious family of schools!
