Jyothi John

Secondary Science Teacher/7A Form Tutor

After acquiring a Bachelor’s degree in Education, I obtained my Master’s degree in Zoology in India. I then spent four years teaching Biology and General Science to both middle school and high school students. My international teaching experience spans over twelve years and includes schools in Mozambique, Tanzania and now Qatar. I have taught Biology (CIE) at IGCSE level (Years 10-11) and also General Science at KS3 and KS2 (Years 2-9) at different stages of my teaching career. As an educator, my prime objective has always been to meet the educational needs and expectations of my students and their parents by providing sufficient opportunities for my students to develop and reach their full potential.

I joined Nord Anglia International School Al Khor in October 2014 and have been honoured to be a part of a teaching faculty that is always committed to developing well-rounded learners who are good communicators, open minded, caring and reflective. I am thrilled to be part of this cheerful school and its promotion of honesty, courage and respect for others. I am proud of our dedicated team and our consistent effort to provide constantly challenging targets whilst using the most appropriate internationally accredited curriculum.

As an experienced educator, I believe that every child has the right to learn in the way that best suits her/his learning style. My goal, throughout my career, has always been to equip every learner with the tools necessary to be a healthy and happy contributor to a global society. I enjoy the experience and facilitation of real learning opportunities for my students.

I am constantly heartened by the teamwork and willingness to support each other that is displayed by both the teaching and non-teaching faculty at NAISAK. I also consider it a privilege to work in NAISAK’s warm and friendly community and am proud to be part of a team that is always dedicated to helping the younger generation excel both academically and socially.

When I am not working, I keep myself entertained by trying out new recipes. I also love playing shuttle badminton. My other areas of interest include listening to music and gardening. I stay in Al Khor with my family and I have two children, my daughter is in her first year of International Baccalaureate and my son is in Year 5
