I graduated from Goldsmiths College in 2011 and have been a full-time graphic designer since. However, after having had the opportunity to work as a Secondary School Art Teacher in both the French International School and Yew Chung International School in Hong Kong, I realised that I enjoyed teaching and therefore completed my PGCE in the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow in 2015. I am now starting my second year of teaching at NAISAK after having successfully completed my NQT year in June 2016.
I have experience in working with students from international schools and teaching the IGCSE. My postgraduate degree has also given me insights in different art curricula within the UK.
NAISAK’s education philosophy mirrors my beliefs in teaching. It is important for teachers to challenge their students in fun and engaging ways, inside and outside of the classrooms. The fact that NAISAK is part of a Global Campus through Nord Anglia Education means that there are opportunities for both staff and the students to interact with people from other Nord Anglia schools across the globe.
I am passionate about art and design and I hope to bring out the creative and imaginative side of the students at NAISAK. I believe it is important for teachers to create an inclusive and safe learning environment for our students, so that we are catering for the needs of learners with different abilities or cultural backgrounds.
It is important for teachers to maintain good communication with parents so that they can be kept up to date with their child’s academic, social and personal progress at school. My students will be creating a visual diary throughout the year, which will allow parents the opportunity to understand and stay updated with what their child is learning about in their art lessons.
I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling and camping. Travelling is also something I enjoy doing so visiting all the countries in the Gulf States will be on my to-do list while I am in Qatar!
