P.E. is a popular and well-established subject at St. Andrews and we are looking for experienced and inspiring teachers to join the P.E. team. One post will involve mostly Primary teaching from EYFS to KS2, but may also require you to teach at KS3 and KS4, with the other post involving teaching from KS2 to KS4, including GCSE PE. Previous experience teaching this course would be a significant advantage.
Across the school, class sizes are small and the students are motivated and enthusiastic, enjoying a lively approach to the subject through a wide range of teaching and learning techniques. The ideal candidate will convey enthusiasm for the subject and contribute collaboratively in the continued development of both the curriculum and extra-curricular sport.
P.E. is studied by all students throughout the school and follows schemes of work based on the English National Curriculum, but adapted to reflect both our location and climate in Thailand. We are at an exciting stage in our development with several new sports facilities due for completion in the next 2-3 years, which will greatly enhance teaching and learning in the P.E. Department.
There are widespread extra-curricular opportunities for students from KS1 upwards and we have developed a busy schedule of training which takes place after school and sometimes at weekends. All P.E. staff are actively involved in this.
Our school prides itself on being an inclusive school, and has an excellent reputation for supporting children with special educational needs. Experience of teaching children with dyslexia, mild autism, ADHD etc. would be very good prior experience for a teacher wishing to join our team. Our Mission Statement commits us to meeting ‘all the needs of the individual learner’, and this applies equally to those students targeting the very highest grades at IGCSE and IB. Our work on Assessment for Learning, Growth Mindsets and, more recently, High Performance Learning is a very important part of this.
We are committed to developing a Virtual Learning Environment using Moodle. There is a strong commitment to integrating the teaching and use of ICT skills into all areas of the curriculum, where appropriate. The P.E. Department has access to data projectors and to the Internet, with a laptop cart, iPads and ICT labs bookable when required.
As well as their teaching, all teachers are expected to contribute positively to both the school’s pastoral systems and the extra-curricular programme.
The closing date for application is 15th May 2015.
