Psychology, History & Theory of Knowledge Teacher

This is my second spell in Thailand, having lived here from 1983 to 1991, when I taught at Chulalongkorn University and latterly, Bangkok Patana School as Head of EAL. I returned to Bangkok in 2008.

In the intervening years I worked at schools in Oxford and Newbury in the UK state system, where I introduced A-Level courses in Psychology and Philosophy, as well as teaching Key Stage 3 History.

One of the reasons I applied to work at St. Andrews International School Bangkok is that I thought the school was in Sukhumvit Soi 107, which is near my home in Bang Na. However, I’m glad I ended up here because it’s a lot better.

The atmosphere is intimate and students are tolerant. New educational initiatives are adapted to suit the St. Andrews ethos and teachers are able to get on with the job of teaching.

I have two grown-up children (actually, the youngest is 22 and male, so has some way to go.) My daughter works for Money Saving Expert and my son has just finished university.

At weekends, I do as little as possible at a house by the river near Saraburi.

“Are you a better Psychology teacher than you are History?”

A Year 7 History student claimed to be asking what my main teaching subject was and I choose to believe him.
