I started as a nutritionist working in development. I have taught EAL for the past 15 years. I have been at St. Andrews for 10 years and in a senior role for the last 8 years. I have taught from Kindergarten to Year 13 and enjoy working with all age groups and nationalities. When I first came to Thailand I worked in a very large international school. I moved to St. Andrews because it was smaller and I felt that it really cared about all the students as individuals.
I have three adult children, two of whom are teachers. One is in an international school in Phuket and the other teaches autistic children in a special school in the UK. My main interest is international development and I try to get involved in development projects and fund-raising events whenever I can. Apart from that I am an animal lover and have a large menagerie at home, which keeps me busy.
The school has a good reputation for working with special needs students but what I think is even more impressive is our record with challenged (and challenging!) children. We have taken some children who did not like being at school and who had had very negative experiences at other schools and we have turned them round and helped them achieve and succeed. I think that is the best thing that we do!
“I love the fact that Ms. Jane makes the lesson very dynamic, never boring. I think Ms. Jane is the most friendly teacher in this school.”
“I like Ms. Jane not only because she is a nice teacher but she teaches well.”
