I have been teaching for over 30 years. From my humble beginnings in Ontario as a Primary teacher, and 14 years of teaching Physical and Health Education I continued to take further qualification courses which ultimately brought me to Counseling. I’ve always tried to change what I do or where I do it every 4 to 7 years! But I love counseling so, I ventured overseas, and worked for 4 years at my first international school in Belgium (Antwerp). After 4 great years in Western Europe, I decided to move to Southeast Asia. I enjoyed 8 years at NIST, here in Bangkok, during their reconstruction phases. Enjoying my time in Thailand, I sought a different environment in Phuket at the British International School, Phuket. Four years later, I took on a new challenge in Japan, but soon realised that Thailand is a much better fit!
I have enjoyed working with thousands of young people and their families, whether through personal/social triumphs and/or their college and university pursuits around the world. Over the years, I’m very proud to call many of these students and their families, my good friends!
Why St. Andrews? St. Andrews is a great school. I love its ethos, and strong leadership. Also, living and working in Thailand is incredible. The people, culture, culinary delights, sport and travel opportunities are immense. What’s not to like?
I’ve always been a “people” person, and love sports! I love playing and/or watching many sports - golf and volleyball in particular, both of which Thailand is a mecca for. I look forward to continuing to grow personally and professionally.
There’s a really good feeling at this school, energy and a obvious thirst for learning with students and educators alike! Also, as a growing school and not having someone in this role before, I find this to be a particularly exciting and alluring challenge. I look forward to developing an effective programme for the community here at St. Andrews.
