Dear parents,

I am very pleased to share with you some encouraging news about our new collaboration with The Juilliard School. In the 2015/16 academic year, 10 Nord Anglia schools were selected to pilot Juilliard’s embedded music curriculum. Following on from the first year of our collaboration with Juilliard, Nord Anglia wanted to evaluate the educational efficacy of the programme on students and teachers. The report, The Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme: An Evaluation One Year On, outlines the impact on transferrable skills through the embedded Juilliard music curriculum.

The research ultimately supports the reasoning behind why we collaborate with the world’s leading performing arts school— more than creating a love for learning, it is about preparing students for the world stage. Whether your child becomes an engineer, an entrepreneur or a diplomat, the skills gained from our performing arts programme will stay with your child for a lifetime.

Here are just some of the findings from the research:

Along with an improvement in musical abilities, students in schools with the programme noted an impact on transferrable skills such as creativity, confidence and problem solving.

Teachers also noted that the programme strengthened students’ skills in the following areas:

  • Motivation
  • Creativity
  • Collaboration
  • Self-confidence
  • Global awareness
  • Independence
  • Problem solving

You can read more about the research in the full report and infographic below. The outcomes from this survey reinforces why we collaborate with The Juilliard School.

I look forward to a successful year with the Juilliard programme in our school. It will surely enrich our students’ academic success along with their emotional and personal development.

Kind Regards,

David Laird

Principal
