On Thursday 8th September Year One set off for Chaoyang park. As part of our topic we were celebrating ourselves and after discussing our special qualities in class it was time to tell the world about it.

The busy beavers wrote little tags explaining why they were special and 10 teachers blew up 84 balloons in preparation. Each individual balloon had their tag attached ready to up, up and away flying through the sky. We were so lucky to have clear blue skies and bright sunshine for our day especially as many parents turned out to support our celebrations.

The excitement was buzzing in the air as the teacher led the countdown to let go and it was fantastic to see the amazed faces watch the balloons float gracefully away. The year group prepared a poem called ‘I am special, I am me’ which they performed almost in time to their parents before settling down to a wonderful picnic and parachute games together. It was so heart-warming to see parents and children getting to know each other while sharing what can only be described as a feast! Led by an amazing team from school and a group of extremely fantastic parents what more could we have asked for. Thank you to all the parents who came to support the children and share a truly magical morning that I’m sure many of you will never forget.
