Our Community

We want all our parents to join in with school life; to become members of our school community and make the most of their life in China.

Our Parents’ Association

All parents become a member of our Parents’ Association (PA) as soon as their child joins the school. The PA is led by the PA Committee who work together in collaboration with the school to organise monthly meetings, family events and fund raising activities. All parents are welcome to come along to the PA meetings which are held each month in the Primary Campus hall and which provide parents with the opportunity to find out about upcoming events, but also ask about any aspect of school life.

Lunch Mums and Dads

Mums and Dads are invited to come into school each lunchtime to help our children make the right choices when choosing their lunch. Our younger children in particular often need some additional support in refilling their plates and a little encouragement to eat their vegetables and our parents are certainly experts at this. Lunch Mums and Dads also get to enjoy a school lunch alongside the pupils on the days they help out.

Class Parent Representatives

Each class in the school is represented by a Class Parent who helps both the Parents’ Association and Teachers in disseminating information to the other parents in the class. A key role of the Class Parent is to help pass on information including birthday party invitations and family picnics. The Class Parent also ensures any new children who join the class along with their family, are introduced to everyone and made welcome to the school.

Charity in the Local and Global Community

We are in the fortunate position to be able to support local charities in Beijing as well as charities on a more global scale. Together with the Parents’ Association, we plan events throughout the year to help raise money for a variety of charities. In particular we have favoured those that focus on supporting children and their families who are less fortunate than ourselves. Local charities such as Roundabout, Alenah’s Home and The Migrant Children’s Foundation at Mingyuan School are three such charities that have benefited from our fundraising activities.
