Catherine Farquharson

Year 4 Kingfishers Class Teacher

Choosing to become a primary school teacher is the best decision I have ever made. I can’t imagine having any other job. Every day is different, every child is unique and you embark together on a learning journey of discovery with lots of laughs and smiles along the way. At the beginning of my career, three years were spent in Scotland gaining experience in all stages of Primary. My first year of teaching was spent on Isle of Islay, a beautiful remote island off the west coast of Scotland. For the last four years I have been teaching on the sunny island of Cyprus. Teaching and living abroad has been a thoroughly rewarding experience for me.

I am positively delighted to begin the next chapter of my career at the British school of Beijing, Sanlitun and joining the Nord Anglia family of schools. I am excited by the limitless learning opportunities that working within a global campus will provide, as I am passionate about extending learning beyond the classroom walls. The British School of Beijing, Sanlitun’s focus on a nurturing environment for all children to excel academically, socially and personally resonates with my own teaching philosophy.

Outside of school I like to spend time traveling and exploring new places, capturing it all with my camera. During my spare time I love being outdoors, horse riding, going for long walks, keeping fit and relaxing with a good book. Fashion and shopping are a slight obsession of mine. I am a certified shopaholic!
