There are so many exciting things happening this week and next in sport.
Our U19 ACAMIS teams departed for Macau to play in their annual Gold Division Volleyball tournament. The tournament is being hosted by The International School of Macau (TIS) from 7th to 8th November 2014. Look for updates and results in the next BSB Weekly Sports update. Our U15 FOBISIA squad departs Thursday 13th November for St. Andrews Thailand to compete in 4 sport events: swimming, athletics, basketball, & football. The team will return to Beijing on Monday 17th November.
This past week students in both secondary & primary competed in their seasonal House sport competitions for volleyball, football, & swimming. A great highlight of House Sports is the inclusive nature of these events as all students get the opportunity to play competitive sport no matter their skill or ability level. As Football season has come to a close for our U14 & primary teams as well as Volleyball following the U19 ACAMIS Championships we look to Season 2 sports. Reminder: Primary handball for Season 2 is already underway (trainings on Tuesday), U14/U13/U12 volleyball has started trainings on Monday and Thursday, and finally U19 basketball will tip-off on Wednesday 12th November. Swimming of course remains open for any interested students who want to try out, feel free to contact the Aquatics Department for further details. Please do feel free to email me if you have any questions concerning sport teams and registrations, firstname.lastname@example.org.

U13 Boys ISAC Football Tournament @WAB (Make-up tournament)
BSB U13 Boys lost their first game 4-2 against DCB who took their few chances, whilst BSB created many chances but just could not manage to find the back of the net. BSB did manage to score a great team goal, the culmination of 10 passes to create the space for Xidi Cheng to finish the move off with confidence. In the next game BSB turned this around with a good performance against WAB winning 4-1 with ease, the pick of the goals of the goals came from Saku Vintola who scored from close range after a flowing move. BSB needed to win their final group game against Harrow to progress and a lapse in concentration gifted Harrow their first goal. BSB then rallied and started to move the ball with speed and precision, quick thinking from Warren Eben in goal, a great run and finish from Josh Warwick got BSB back into the game. Challey Choi missed a great opportunity to put BSB ahead and then Harrow struck scoring against the run of play, with BSB pushing forward and squandering good chances Harrow scored again. BSB kept playing until the final whistle, but unfortunately they just ran out of time. In the 3rd/4th playoff game BSB managed to get over their defeat in the previous game and ran out comfortable winners 6-1 against WAB with goals from Josh Warwick, Daito Watanabe, Saku Vintola and Challey Choi.
U13 Girls ISAC Football Tournament @WAB (Make-up tournament)
The U13 girls football team played against DCB, WAB and ISB in their final tournament of the season. The girls played well throughout the tournament and were very enthusiastic from the start.
The girls first game was against DCB, where they started the match off very well, with good passes from the onset. The girls ended the first half on 1-1 and were extremely confident. The second half saw the same with confident passes from both teams, with the girls scoring another great goal to bring it back to 2-2. Unfortunately, DCB scored their 3rd goal in the last few minutes to make the final score DCB 3 – BSB 2.
The second game saw the girls even more confident to get their first win of the tournament against WAB. The girls communicated with each other well throughout the game, with strong passes between all girls on the field. At half time, BSB were down 2-1 although the girls were not phased by this and with some inspirational talk to each other, went out and scored 3 more goals in the second half and were leading in the last few minutes of the match with a strong 2 finishes by BSB into the top corners of the goal. Once again, the girls were caught in the last few minutes of the match, where WAB scored making the final score 4-4.
The third game was against ISB, where BSB girls were more determined than ever to win the match. The girls played well against a very strong ISB team, and had a number of fantastic shots on goal, however, the ball could not find the back of the net, hitting either the post or being saved by the goalkeeper several times. ISB had less shots on target but unfortunately managed to find the back of the net with the final score being BSB 1 – ISB 3.
The final game of the day was for the 3rd/4th play off, where the girls played ISB again. Although the girls were tired from the last 3 games, played extremely well and had even more shots against ISB than the previous game. The final score was BSB 2 – ISB 3.
