Teddies

In Teddies we have been continuing to settle in and get to know each other.

We have been busy learning about the Golden Rules of being kind and having gentle hands and using what we have learnt to have lots of fun with our new Teddies class friends. The children have enjoyed playing lots of lovely games together and were thrilled when we all went outside to play on the parachute for the first time. There were squeals of delight coming from all directions!

We have also been very clever at learning the names for parts of our bodies in English and in Mandarin! We have learnt lots of songs about the names of our different parts and movements that we can do too. The children decorated some paper plates as faces and had great fun getting sticky whilst exploring what glue can do.

This week we have also celebrated one of our staff’s birthdays. We sang Happy Birthday in different languages, build with pretend cakes, practised our candle blowing skills by blowing bubbles in the water through a straw and even decorated a chocolate cake!

What an exciting week we have had!

Nursery

This week in nursery we have been listening for sounds and trying to guess what was hidden in the sound boxes. Later in the week we had a lot of very noisy animals hiding inside our Circle Time box. The children did a great job singing about all the animals on Old MacNursey's farm. The children have done some wonderful paintings of different animals and have enjoyed dressing up and sounding like who they were dressed up as!

The children did a great job baking a cake, weighing out the ingredients and taking turns to mix all the ingredients together. They enjoyed making toast and cutting it into different shapes and spreading it with cheese that was in a triangle shape. There has been some great counting going on in Nursery and the children remembered to touch each object as they counted. They made their own shape pictures and are now displayed on our classroom doors- come and have a look! They also found 4 straws to make a square, then they drew a picture inside. We are having lots of fun!

Reception

In Reception, the main focus this week has been about our bodies and eating. We brainstormed everything we knew about healthy and unhealthy foods, and danced and boogied to a wide selection of songs about our bodies. Later in the week the children drew pictures of what they would eat for a healthy meal. Then we made fruit salads with fruit from home. The children did a great job of cutting up the fruit.

In maths we have been learning how to write, read, recognise and recall numbers from 1 to 10. We have used a variety of fun games and practical activities and are delighted to see great progress from our children. Whilst in Phonics we have spent the week reviewing the sounds and actions we have learned so far. In PE the children have been learning how to kick and control a football when passing and receiving a ball with our feet.

In fact the Reception children have been so amazing that we found our Golden Gem pots were full, so we had a great beach party on Friday afternoon. All the children and teachers came to school wearing beach clothes. In the afternoon we all danced to beach songs and then sat down to eat chocolate and vanilla ice cream. A great end to a wonderful week!
