This week our Teddies children have been having lots of fun together. They have settled into their new classroom very quickly and are becoming familiar with our routines. The children are sitting so nicely to eat their snacks and lunch together and practising saying please and thank you as they decide what they would like to eat…as well as saying “yummy yummy” when they have eaten it!
They are also enjoying getting down to the business of playing and trying all of the lovely activities with their new friends.
We have been singing songs about our bodies and doing some hand and foot printing. As lots of children loved our Dinosaurs we have been building a Dinosaur Den and also having birthday parties using the playdough, whilst wearing party hats!
After a great week of settling into our new Nursery Unit, this week we have been getting into our regular circle time activities.
For phonics, we have been beginning to listen out for and distinguish between sounds. We made shakers using bottles and rice; the children did very careful pouring using the funnels and had a great time shaking them to make loud and quiet sounds.
In maths we have been doing some counting, singing some number songs and learning about circles. We had a great time using our lovely new kitchen to make some circular biscuits – they were delicious!
We have also been continuing with our ‘All about me’ topic, getting messy making hand-print pictures and counting our fingers.
The main focus for this week has been 'All About Me.' In topic the children have completed lots of fun activities related to themselves. They have made hand and footprints, mixed colours, made a heart with pictures of things they love, decorated their name labels with paint and lashings of glitter. We have also sang songs all about our bodies. Our favourite is Shake your sillies out! Apart from all this fun we have also been learning to write, recognise and recall numbers 1 - 10 through fun activities. In Phonics we have been learning sounds of the alphabet and the corresponding Jolly Phonics actions.
