The Teddies Pre-Nursery children have been wondering what is going on in the world due to the wintery Beijing weather!

They have shown some very mixed reactions to this cold, beautiful stuff called snow. Many of the children have enjoyed dressing up in their winter wear to go and play outside, whilst some have taken a few tentative steps out, before realising that they prefer to play in our warm classroom. We bought a box of snow inside for them to experiment with instead and also made some pretend snow that wasn’t cold at all for their little hands to explore as it has a very similar texture to that of real snow!

“Do you want to build a snowman” we sang as we worked together to roll the snowman’s head and body. The children remembered from another one of our songs about snowmen that it would need a carrot for its nose as well as some eyes and buttons.

The children have also enjoyed digging and transporting the snow from place to place and sprinkling the snow as if it was snowing again. We have learnt a song called ‘Little Snowflake’ which many of the children loved to sing whilst playing in the snow.

The snow has made us all feel ready to start decorating for Christmas. So the Teddies helped to decorate our Christmas tree! They were so excited to be able to help to add the baubles…however we did end up with a very obvious line of baubles at child height all around the Christmas Tree. It was very beautiful! The Teddies children are also working hard at various winter and Christmas related art projects, watch out in our corridor for a very special Christmas Snowman display!
