It has been a busy half-term in Year 1. Last month, the children took part in the BSB International Day celebrations. The children enjoyed taking part in the parade and visiting the various stalls, and of course trying lots of different food!

On Wednesday 28th October, Year 1 visited Beijing Zoo as part of their ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ topic. The children had a great time looking at all the animals and eating their picnics. The trip inspired the children’s writing and they wrote great recounts of what they did. They also wrote some amazing descriptions of the animals they saw.

We celebrated World Nursery Rhyme Week from 9th November. The children looked at and sang a variety of different nursery rhymes and created their own.  The children also had the chance to dress up as their favourite nursery rhyme characters.

The children have been having a lot of fun in the snow over the last week, and we have brought this into our learning. The children of 1GN went on an icicle hunt and learnt about how icicles are formed and where snow comes from.
