IB CAS Students - Santa's Grotto raised funds for Love & Hope

Following the great success of the Santa’s Grotto stall led by four students in Y13 last year, BSB had once again hosted this event for the 2015 Christmas Fayre on the 21st of November. This time though, it was a fundraising event to help an organization called the Love and Hope Center-a non-profit charity organization that is setup to assist migrant children and women from the countryside.

Aiming to provide our young children with some lovely time with Father Christmas, a group of Y12 students and I had gathered together to work on set design, poster design, finance, charity works, etc.

Now, I can’t deny that there were no difficulties whatsoever during the planning stage and even, during the whole event. We were sometimes not in touch with each other and had a hard time running the queuing system smoothly, without having any unsatisfactory customers. It was tough and it is a lie to say it was not.

Yet, we all felt it was worth all the troubles after seeing the bright smiles on the children and hearing all the awes and compliments from the parents.  It was worthwhile because the children were happy to have a nice, off –the-cuff chat with Father Christmas, as well as extra-cuddly teddy bears and Christmas-themed goody bags. It was worthwhile because we have managed to raise around 10,000 RMB for the Love and Hope Center. And definitely, it was worthwhile because us too, have enjoyed the event so much at the end.

Just as much as the visitors of our stall will cherish their moments with Santa Claus (hopefully), I too, will forever cherish the moments I shared with my team to make this year’s Santa’s Grotto work out.
