On the 10th of November, German Primary School celebrated the annual Lantern Walk. This German tradition is part of the story of Saint Martin, a roman soldier who shared in a cold winter’s night his cloak with a poor man. Later, Martin converted and became a Christian bishop. Since then, Saint Martin is linked to the virtue of helping the poor and the people in need, disregarding own deprivation. In front of an audience of families, GK3 performed in the theatre the play of Saint Martin and the Poor. Then, we followed the ‘real’ Saint-Martin in a lantern walk through the school premises, accompanied by a sing-a-long of Saint-Martin-songs. The event finished with hot beverages and a traditional ‘White-bread-man’ baked and shared by the students of GPS.
