Dear BSB Sport Followers,

What a busy two sport weeks it has been since the last newsletter. Since then we have played/returned/departed for 3 sport trips not to mention all of the tournament/matches within Beijing (ISAC) over these past two weeks. Our U13 FOBISIA team returned from St. Andrews Green Valley (STAGV), Thailand, on Tuesday 15th March, which as I expressed last Newsletter, was one of the best squads we have ever entered for the U13 FOBISIA games. Though the heat in Thailand was a real issue for our teams within all the sports, two big highlights would be the swim team for boys/girls finished 3rd Overall coming 10 points shy of 2nd Place and our girls basketball team finished 1st Overall which is the first U13/U15 FOBISIA Championship BSB has won within the secondary organized games. The finalized results can be downloaded with a load of pictures from the host (STAGV) at: http://sagvfobisia.weebly.com/ .

As one FOBISIA team returned another departed (our FOBISIA Golf Team) on Monday 14th March. The FOBISIA Golf Tournament was hosted by one of our own B2 Group Schools: Kolej Tuanku Ja Afar (KTJ). This marked the first year BSB has entered a team into the FOBISIA golf tournament but despite only a squad of 6 ,we have started this with a push to send a team to the 2017 tournament in Phuket, Thailand at BIS Phuket around the same time. KTJ has given us the following links for Facebook/YouTube which shows a great event for all participants: http://www.facebook.com/kolejtuankujaafar & https://youtu.be/eB6CgJeLXaw . Our team returns back to Beijing today March 18th.

Continuing the trend this past week as one team returned another departed, our ACAMIS Swim squad left for Suzhou, China on Thursday 17th March, which for the second year in a row is participating in the annual ACAMIS Swim Invitational event being hosted by Dulwich College Suzhou (DCSZ), and the Suzhou Singapore International School (SSIS). BSB is entering 28 total swimmers this year which is almost double from last year. Another great sign of how far along our swim program has come within Beijing and within participation in these international swim meets. The event kicks off on Friday 18th and finishes Saturday 19th March. The host schools have communicated the following site to following the action Live: http://sites.ssis-suzhou.net/acamisswimming/ .

Even with all the traveling BSB teams, we still had a load of U19/U16 football tournaments taking place last weekend as well. Dragon Cup for Varsity Boys/Girls @ ISB/BSB and Tiger Cup for JV Boys/Girls @WAB were all playing on Friday March 11th & Saturday March 12th. The highlight of the two days would be our girls JV U16 Tiger Cup team who won the Tournament in dramatic fashion, winning it over a team they lost to (ISB) in Pool Play in the Championship Game coming down to Penalties after regulation to win in at 2-1.

Bringing it forward to the weekend at hand, on Saturday March 19th is the ISAC U14/U13/U12 boys & girls Basketball Exchanges. BSB will enter teams in 5 divisions as well as host the U14 girls on the day. U14 D1 Boys @BWYA, U14 D1 Girls @BSB, U13 Girls @BCIS, U12 Boys @ISB, & U12 Girls @DCB. Also on the day our U11 Boys/Girls Badminton teams will be playing in their ISAC Championship Tournament at BIBA. Good luck to all the teams on Saturday.

I look forward again to reporting on some excellent results and experiences. Also, stay posted on our blog http://www.nordangliaeducation.com/our-schools/beijing/shunyi/news-and-insights/news-info-and-events/sport or look to the BSB Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/britishschoolbeijing/ as when results & pictures come in we will post everything we can.

From last Newsletter it also gives me great pleasure to report that we have scheduled to host the 2017 ACAMIS Volleyball Championships for our U19 boys and girls teams from November 3rd to 5th 2016. Tentatively and still to be confirmed, we have scheduled to host the U15 FOBISIA games for boys and girls at BSB from November 10th to 12th 2016, which makes November 2016 a very exciting and busy month for both our U19 ACAMIS & U15 FOBISIA teams which both Tournaments will be hosted at BSB.

If anyone has any questions, do let me know. As we are in the beginning stages, we have begun to launch our own BSB Sports Page which has a load of information concerning teams, schedules, updates, etc. Do take a look as we formally launch this site with a variety of other options: http://www.bsbshunyisport.com/ . This site can also be accessed under the BSB Home page (http://www.nordangliaeducation.com/our-schools/beijing/shunyi/learning)- Sports Activities Hub.
