From the Music Department:
The Secondary Production is happening this weekend, and the Music Department would like to acknowledge all the hard work that has been done by the thirty student actors as well as the musicians and tech crew. They have spent hours in rehearsals: learning lines, singing complicated harmonies and practising dance moves again and again.
We interviewed members of the cast and would like to share some of their thoughts on what it is like to be in such a large scale production. Every single person said that they would definitely recommend the experience to anyone, and that even though it was hard work, they would do it again.
Here are some amazing quotes from some of our actors. It is best to hear about the experience directly from them:
Annebelle Y9: “I have enjoyed being able to see the process and the effort needed to put on a show. It is much more work AND much more fun than I expected.”
Ashley Y10: “I thought the flashmob was so much fun. I really like singing and dancing.”
Ellyza Y7: “I learned a lot about acting and performing and that it is incredibly hard to do well!”
Luca Y9: “You have to realise how important doing something like this actually is. It takes work and commitment, and now I can’t imagine my life without it.”
Josh Y12: “I was trying something new, and I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was!”
Amelie Y9: “I really enjoyed meeting new people. We never really interact with, for example, Y7, but now we know each other and are friends.”
Emer Y12: “It’s a once in a lifetime experience you should do when you are young.”
Anna Y7: “Sometimes rehearsals can be boring when we do the same thing over and over again, but now I understand why it is necessary to put on a good show.”
Sid Y12: “I always expect to be nervous, but it goes away when I get up in front of people.”
Edward Y10: “It requires a lot of commitment, but it is also a lot of fun. I got to know some other people really well and made new friends.”
Julienne Y8: “It was hard work, but so worth it. I don’t want it to end!”
Zaden Y9: “Definitely try it! I didn’t think about it much and just jumped right in. Be engaged. Be ready to be committed and enjoy it!”
Please join me in congratulating them on a job well done and take a look at the rehearsal pictures. We will have pictures of the performances in the next newsletter.
