BSB United – Staff and Parents Football Match

  • Staff Parent Football April 2016

On Saturday 16th April, 2016, staff and parents from The British School of Beijing (BSB) participated in their first game of 2016.  Last year, during the two fixtures, the staff were victorious on both occasions; winning 3 – 1 and 4 – 2.

During Saturday’s match, the parents managed to take an early lead after some poor defending.  Undeterred by the goal, the staff clawed back a quick equaliser, with Jamie Hughes scoring a wonderful header from a Scott Murdoch corner.  The teachers soon found themselves 2-1 up with another great goal from BSB’s Deputy Head, Jamie Hughes.  With some impressive interchange between David Cairns and Hughes, Hughes found himself one-on-one with the advancing goalkeeper.

Shortly before the break, Hughes completed his hat trick; lobbing the keeper with a right-footed effort.

Not down-beat by the 3-1 score line, the parents got back into the game with a well-worked goal leaving it 3-2 at the break.  As the referee blew for the second half to begin, the teachers restored their three goal advantage with David Cairns scoring from close range.  Again, Jamie Hughes and Scott Murdoch were involved in the build-up.  With victory all-but secured, Jamie Hughes scored his fourth and the teachers’ fifth goal of the afternoon.

After the game, both staff and parents donated money to the Migrant Children Foundation charity.  A total of 2980RMB was collected, with all money going to the MCF charity.

Further fixtures are scheduled in the coming weeks!
