Dear BSB Sport Followers,
Welcome back from the break. As we return this week, it marks the final 3 weeks of Season 3 sports which at the conclusion of their ACAMIS/ISAC tournaments on the 23rd April will conclude all U19 Sports for the academic year. However, the next 3 weeks are packed with events not just on the external side but also within PE/Curriculum. For this week alone, all students in Y3 through Y11 compete in PE Unit ending House Tournaments. Our House Sport system has always given me the most pride at BSB as no matter a student’s level or abilities these competitions are all inclusive and give everyone at BSB a competitive experience within so many sports i.e. Netball, Rugby, Football or T-ball to name the most recent ones. Our results from the many House Tournaments are attached. Well done to all the House Winners as these points help your respected House closer to a possible Overall House Championships for either primary or secondary which is announced at year end assemblies.
Moving on to our external sports, our final two sport trips of the year will be taking place in the next few weeks, first up is our ACAMIS Boys & Girls Football teams who will travel to Dalian for our annual Gold Division “Soccer” Championships from April 14th to 16th. Our boys have dominated this competition winning the last 3 years, with the girls finishing runner-up the last two. The host Dalian American International School (DAIS) has given us the following link (www.ACAMISDAIS.com ) to follow all the action Live as and when it comes in. Good luck to our boys and girls once again in bringing home another Championship. Our squad name list is attached for ACAMIS Football 2016.
The last sport trip of the year and the highlight of the primary sport calendar is our Primary FOBISIA team. This year marks the first year we have expanded this squad to the maximum number of 42 total students. Our team will be traveling to Malaysia hosted by the British School of Kuala Lumpur (BSKL) from May 25th through May 30th. Trainings have already begun and will last until Friday 20th May. The 2016 Primary FOBISIA squad name list is attached as well. Congratulations to all that made it in this year’s squad and to those who did not make it especially in Y6, next year marks a new format for the U13 teams, so don’t get discouraged and keep working to improve as some who did not make it for Primary in 2015 found themselves on the squad for the U13’s in 2016. Keep working and never stop trying out for all of these great sport opportunities.
The conclusion of Season 3 also means an end to ISAC sports for both U19 football and U14 basketball. Our U19 boys and girls ISAC teams will play in an ISAC Football Invite to formally finish football and U19 sports for the year on Saturday 23rd April. Boys are @DCB and the girls @BSB. On the same Saturday, U14 ISAC basketball, the U14 D1 boys are @BSB, U12 boys @DCB, U14 girls @ISB, & U12 boys @BSB. ISAC tournaments and invites will all start at 0900, with finish times to be published/confirmed closer to time.
I also look forward as well to the start of Season 4 as for Primary it will be exclusively for FOBISIA training. On the secondary side only U15/U13 Rugby for boys and Netball for girls remains. Season 4 is a short one as it concludes with a two Day tournament hosted by DCB (Lions Cup) from May 27th to 28th which will end all formal external sports for secondary students. On the primary side we will have 1 more big sport event which is a pilot programme for our first ever Mini-FOBISIA which will take place from June 13th & 14th hosted by BSB & HISB. Students in Y3, and also Y2 if space is open, will participate in this pilot program to help give an early start to the FOBISIA experiences on a local Beijing level. Schools from BSB SY/BSB SAN/HISB/DCB will take part in this year’s first ever Mini-FOBISIA games for athletics/swimming/football. More details to come out as we begin try-outs in May but if parents would have any questions please contact our Head of Primary PE, Ms. Joanne North: firstname.lastname@example.org .
