8:20pm Updates

Puppet Show and Small Goose Pagoda

Today started with a trip to see a puppet show. We watched 2 performances: one funny story about a market seller who falls in love and another called 'The Monkey King and the Pig Man'! We were also lucky enough to have a behind the scenes tour and a chance to have a go at some puppeteering ourselves. After this we wandered the beautiful gardens and visited the small wild goose pagoda.

Dumpling Cooking Class and City Wall Hike

After the puppet show, we headed to a local restaurant for a dumpling cooking class. It was very messy, but good fun and we learnt how to make dumplings in to the shapes on animals; like ducks and fish. This was followed by a hike on the city wall, which was a beautiful way to see the city.

The Great Mosque and Shopping Street

WOW! What a ruthless bunch of hagglers we have on our hands!! We ended the day by visiting the Great Mosque in the muslim quarter and the shopping street.  The children were amazing at finding treasures in the shops and fluent in negotiating a great bargain. A lot of children said it was a great end to the holiday. Now early to bed as we must be early for our train tomorrow, night!
