“Resolved: The United Nations is no longer important.”

On March 11th-12th, our Year 10 students, Claire Shannon-Vermillion and Luca Coban, proudly represented BSB at the Association for Global Debate (AGD) Spring Invitational Debate that was held at Dulwich College.  The Debate attracted teams representing seven different countries and 13 different schools.

The students had to prepare a pro and con case for the resolution above.  They participated in four debates total- each time a coin was tossed and the winner was able to decide whether they wanted to debate pro or con, or if they wanted to speak first or second.  The debates were action packed; the crossfire rounds where each team had a chance to question the opposition’s evidence were particularly exciting!

Claire and Luca achieved a record of 2-2, which is excellent given the high level of competition.

We are also thrilled to announce that Luca was honoured as one of the Top Ten Speakers in the debate, winning fourth place.
