Between the 14th to 17th April, the Year 10 students successfully completed a 2 day hike and 1 night camp in the Yanqing hills, north-west of Beijing. This was part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s International Bronze Award to help prepare them for the main qualifying Adventurous Journey expedition that will take place in June.

The route was up and down hills, passing an area that has film sets used for movies and an army training area. We saw a tank on manoeuvres ! All this the students did while carrying 60 litre rucksacks and water to last them for two days.

The students worked well in their teams of seven, showed great enthusiasm and were a credit to themselves and the school. A big thank you to Mr. Lewis, Mr Godward, Mr Zhang, Mr Byrne, Mr Wheeler, Mr Carlisle, Miss Mandy, Miss Bramley and Ms Usher who helped supervise the weekend trips.
