Brit MUN - a new event at BSB

A Model United nations debating event between teams from BSB and other visiting international schools in Beijing

  • MUN FB

Students in Years 7-10 have prepared themselves into groups during thier MUN ASA and are ready to take on other groups from invited schools for the chance to become BRIT MUN winners!

Model United Nations, MUN, is an after school activity and educational simulation in which students role-play delegates to the United Nations and UN committees and councils.  This allows for students to develop skills in a number of areas such as research, public speaking, debate, critical thinking, teamwork and leadership.

The main objective of each delegate is to produce a resolution, which they then lobby for support and then eventually it is debated and amended upon within in their committee or council. A resolution is a prospective solution to the topic or issue from their committee – this is the main focus of the debate. The delegates represent the views of their country on each issue but must work with other delegates to gain support for this, often resolutions are merged to allow for this to happen more effectively.
