Our School Day at BSB

It's 8.15am and the foyer begins filling with chatter from eager students heading to class. So begins another busy day of learning at The British School of Beijing, Shunyi.

The school corridors at The British School of Beijing, Shunyi, begin to bustle around 8.15am when students are welcomed into the classrooms. 

A normal school day officially begins at 8.30am with registration, followed by the start of lessons at 8.40am. 

Primary students have plenty of classroom time and are helped by teachers and assistants to their specialist lessons such as PE and Music.

Secondary school has a six-period day, with two break times. Each period is 55 minutes with five minutes in between to transfer to each lesson. Lunch time is an hour.

Daily subject timetables vary depending on year levels, but the following tables indicate a typical busy school day at The British School of Beijing, Shunyi.

Example Timetable for Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception

8.15am Classrooms open (students should not arrive before this time)
8.30am Play, activities and registration
8.40am Lessons begin
10.40am Morning break
10.55am Lessons resume
11.30am Lunch begins (Pre-nursery and part-time students go home)
12.50pm Afternoon lessons begin
1.50pm Afternoon break
2.20pm Lessons resume
3.30pm End of the school day

Students arriving late or leaving early are required to fill out the "Late Arrival/Early Departure" Log Book at the Reception desk.
