I was fortunate in that I knew I wanted to be a teacher so when I studied at Durham University I did a four year teaching degree, (BA Ed. Hons). I then taught for two years in the UK before I began my travels overseas. I worked in three international schools in Kuwait before I arrived in Beijing in August 2010. I have taught children from Pre Nursery, right up to Year 9. I began teaching in 1995.

    Teddies Teacher

I started my career in education by training to work in full time day care until I had my own children.  I returned to education as a mature student to obtain my teaching degree from Goldsmiths University and then taught Reception and Year One for ten years in an Inner London primary school.

In 1998 I made the decision to leave England and teach overseas. My first contract was in Egypt, just outside Cairo, in a four form entry school teaching Nursery and I had such a great time that I stayed for five years moving to teach Reception and Year One. My second contract was also in Egypt but this time in a much bigger school, still teaching in Early Years but with more responsibility. I loved teaching and living in Egypt but my family circumstances have changed and I want to be closer to my grandchild who lives in Australia.

China and BSB Shunyi offer me the opportunity to experience a new country and culture that I have wanted to explore as well as being able to visit my family more often.
