Head of Primary PE

I joined Nord Anglia in 2012 and have worked in both the Shunyi and Sanlitun schools in Beijing. Before coming to China I taught both primary and secondary PE in both state and private schools in the UK for 5 years. I have taught across 4 key stages including GCSE and A Level PE and held the position of Primary PE Coordinator in my previous school. My interest in teaching Physical Education derived from my love of sport from a young age and wanting to share my knowledge and enthusiasm to help others experience the benefits that sport can offer.

I studied Sport and PE at York St. John University and went on to complete a PGCE in secondary PE at Durham University. In my teaching I aim to inspire young people to develop their skills and love of sport and nurture each child’s talent and potential, encouraging all students to participate in and enjoy all types of physical activity. I am also keen to promote a positive attitude towards fitness and sport and to help students recognise the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle.

I am a bit of a fitness fanatic and enjoy running, cycling and yoga. I am also a keen snowboarder and scuba diver. My main sports are netball, tennis and swimming and I have competed in these sports at county level. During my time in Beijing I have participated in the Beijing half marathon and am keen to take on the Great Wall Marathon and more team sports this year.

I love to travel and spend holiday time exploring new places in Asia. This summer I travelled around Tibet which was an amazing experience and being at Everest Base Camp was definitely a ‘wow’ moment.
