Having completed my Master’s degree in Chemistry and Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Mumbai, India, I have worked in IB schools for more than 10 years now. In addition to teaching IBDP, IGCSE Chemistry and CLSP (Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme) to students of diverse cultural backgrounds in the age group of 12 to 17 years, I have also had the opportunity to work as Head of the Science Department for various international schools throughout India, Malaysia, Azerbaijan and most recently in the Czech Republic. I have also served as an IBDP Chemistry and Final Script Examiner, as well as a student testing coach for the SAT, GRE, GMAT, IELTS and TOEFL.
Working at BSB Shunyi provides me with the opportunity and challenge to realize two professional objectives - of further enriching my teaching experience of students with different cultural backgrounds and of working with and learning from colleagues from the UK - an experience that I have thoroughly enjoyed previously in all my previous stints.
I am an Indian and I believe that its various languages and multitudinous religions and cultural traditions make Indians uniquely capable of adapting to the demands of living in foreign countries. My leisure time activities involve reading about strategies for educational leadership and institutional management and playing football, cricket, chess, badminton and table tennis. I look forward to learning about Chinese culture, seeing the Great Wall of China, visiting Shanghai, learning to speak Mandarin to a comprehensible extent whenever the situation demands it and ensuring that I grow both personally and professionally through the experience of living and working in Beijing.
