Kate Park

Admissions Officer, IB Korean Teacher

My role as a Teacher at BSB is to teach Korean literature and English literature in goals of helping Korean secondary school students study for entrance tests and tangible improvements in English. Out of 15 years of my teaching career, I have been teaching Korean and Chinese students for six years as the president of a language academy in Beijing. I studied English at the Korean University of Aerospace. I have also completed Korean Education program at the Institute of Foreign Language Studies of Korea University and have a TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) as well as a Business English certificate from the Capilano College in Vancouver.

Although Beijing is only an hour's flight away from Seoul, the Chinese and Korean culture and language hold similarities as well as differences within the Asian context. This gives me more reasons to teach deeper understandings of Korean culture to Korean students in China with literature. The study of literature can be deepened with persistence in diverse cultural and linguistic background.

The IB program is especially important for international student admission. With my experiences of guiding students to reach for various score certificates and prepare for entrance tests, I will humbly stay by the students’ side to get the best results possible in the IB program.
