I grew up in Cardiff, South Wales and I graduated from the University of Wales in 2002, with a BA (Hons) Degree in Theatre Arts, with English and QTS. I immediately embarked on my first teaching post in a challenging school in the heart of the Welsh valleys. My passion for the subjects of both English and Drama was firmly ignited, as I taught these from year 7 (6th grade) through to year 13 (12th grade), taking on the role of Head of Drama during this time. In 2007, I decided to combine two of my greatest passions – travel and education, by applying to teach overseas, and I was fortunate to secure the position of English and Drama teacher at The British International School of Chicago. I immediately fell in love with the vibrancy and diversity of living in an American city and I absolutely loved my role of Head of English at the school. The passion for education and learning, coupled with the united endeavor for success, was extremely invigorating and during the five years that I taught in Chicago, the English Department thrived. in 2012, my desire to further my own education and complete a Master’s degree in English Literature brought me back to the UK. For the past four years, I have been teaching English and Drama in a Welsh high school, continuing to develop my skills and experiences, and I have also completed my MA in English Literature.
