Jared Hatch

History Teacher

I received my undergraduate degree in history and education from Emmanuel College in Boston.  I taught two years for Boston Public Schools and have also taught for both Malden and Quincy public schools. I am receiving my Masters degree in Secondary Education and History from the University of Massachusetts-Boston this coming fall. I decided to come to BISB to get the experience of working in an international school, with high level students.

I am from Massachusetts and currently live in Boston. I grew up on Cape Cod and still have family that live there. I spend a large portion of my summers there.  I love dogs and have a Basset Hound. I love all sports and root for Boston sports teams throughout the year. In my free time I love playing basketball, running, watching movies, and trying new restaurants.

what students say about me

"I used to hate history but when Mr. Hatch came to teach history he made it fun for me. Ever since I wanted to learn more, so thank you Mr. Hatch for making history fun."

"Mr. Hatch is my favorite teacher and makes history my favorite lesson. I am going to miss history lessons with him next year."

what makes this school different

The students are high level and high achieving. I appreciate being able to do innovative lessons in the classroom and love hearing the students’ perspectives on different world issues. Our students are very opinionated and educated on world issues, and hearing their unique opinions is one of the most interesting parts of my job.
