Stephen Higgins

Geography Teacher

My desire to teach stemmed from my experience spending five summers in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania working at a traditional co-ed summer camp. This experience of combining education with the natural environment occurred both during and after my time at the University of Liverpool where I studied a BA in Geography.

My desire to teach stemmed from my experience spending five summers in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania working at a traditional co-ed summer camp. This experience of combining education with the natural environment occurred both during and after my time at the University of Liverpool where I studied a BA in Geography.

I received a first class and went onto complete my teacher training in conjunction with the University of Bedfordshire. During my teaching career in Milton Keynes I have been fortunate to have the responsibility of leading IB Geography whilst also being Head of Year 12 & 13 in the Sixth Form. One of my proudest achievements is to have led two World Challenge expeditions with students to Borneo and Nicaragua. The opportunity for students to learn in such awe-inspiring communities and natural landscapes was invaluable.

In addition to my commitment to teaching, I am keen to explore the outside world in my own time. I am proud to say I've covered four continents in the last four years including navigating North Africa's highest peak, diving with whale sharks and taking in a midnight viewing of an active volcano. I will do my best to support Liverpool FC from the other side of the Atlantic alongside embracing all the sports Boston has to offer.

I am truly excited to join BISB and join Nord Anglia's global network. Utilizing the connections this presents, alongside the personalized leaning ethos was fundamental in my decision to move to Boston. I look forward to meeting all the staff & students.
