A Student's Typical Day - Primary

  • Typical Day Primary

Students arrive at school not earlier than 7:30am and classrooms open at 7:50am.  The school provides supervision for students starting 7:30am. 

Most classes begin the day with a class morning meeting which last approximately 10-15 minutes

From 8:00-10:00am students stay in the homeroom classes.  During this time typically students have Literacy (reading/writing) instruction.

At 9:45am students have the opportunity to eat their snacks in class and at 10:00am they have a break of 15 minutes.  During this time students go outside their classrooms to play with their friends.

The next block of classes are from 10:15-12:30 am.  During this time students might have specialist classes that include Modern Languages or EAL, Art, Music, PE & Swimming

At 12:30pm all students have lunch in our cafeterias.  They eat from 12:30-12:55pm and have play time recess from 12:50-1:15pm.

At 1:15pm students go back to their homeroom classes.  Typically this is the time when teachers read aloud to their students.

From 1:30-3:00pm students either stay in their homeroom classes typically learning about their Units of Inquiry or go to specialist classes.

All classes are dismissed at 3:00pm.

When After School Activities are in sessions, students can attend an array of activities from 3:15pm-4:00pm.

Students are picked up by caregivers or can take the bus home.
