The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS) gives children age 3-5 the best possible start in life, enabling them to develop to their fullest potential their personalities, talents and abilities. The curriculum comprises of three Prime Areas of learning which structure the fundamental educational attributes children must acquire to become critical thinkers and problem solvers. Communication and Language (CAL) which involves expressive and receptive language skills and finally Physical Development which facilitates fine motor and gross motor dexterity, Health and self-care and also pencil control and writing. These aspects of the curriculum are prerequisites to expedite children's learning in the Specific Areas.
