Matt Gregory

This year, we will be launching the Community Action Scheme which will give students and our whole school the opportunity to make a difference in the local community. Children will be deciding on a specific cause they would like to support before thinking of practical ways in which they can support it. As an aspiring leader, I hope to lead out school in the direct of social responsibility.

I grew up in London and, after finishing my degree, I took a range of jobs in the city before deciding to enter the teaching profession. My wife is from Michigan, we met when we were both working as summer camp counselors in Maine, and we married in 2009, staying in London for 3 years before making the move across the Atlantic to Chicago. I am a West Ham fan and run the supporters' club here in the city. There are plenty of reasons to like Chicago, but the one thing I love is that it is made up so many different people and cultures from across the globe, creating a culturally rich environment that you can see and hear and feel.

As the world becomes smaller, it is vital that students have a meaningful understanding of their place within their local and global communities; when a child has a good working knowledge of the world around them, it helps them to better understand how they can positively impact those around them. Our students have to know where they come from - and identity is always important - but they must have an international mindset and recognize the opportunities that exist in e wider world.
