I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri where I discovered my love of dance at age 5. During my time there I had the opportunity to perform and choreograph for a range of organizations and venues. I was also a founding member of a charity that brought dance to inner-city youth free of charge, and this launched my love for teaching. I moved to Chicago 8 years ago to attend Columbia College and earn my bachelor's degree in Dance. During my time in Chicago, I have enjoyed teaching, and performing for local dance artists.I feel so privileged to live in a city with such a vibrant arts community and it has been wonderful to pass on my passion to the students at BISC Lincoln Park.
Creativity and challenge help our students get better everyday. When you push you brain creatively it activates different parts of the brain that you might not always use. It helps children think about things in a broader way and makes them more open to new ideas and people. It promotes collaboration, empathy and curiosity, which is so important for a child's development. Through creative problem solving students are continually challenged. Every student needs to be challenged in order to beat their personal best.
