Year Leaders

Our middle leadership team represents each year group at BISC Lincoln Park from Pre-Nursery to Year 6. These nine leaders hold weekly meetings with their year groups and serve as representatives at our staff meetings too. Reporting to our key stage leaders, they are the senior leadership team's first point of contact regarding all year groups.

I came to Chicago in 2015 and have loved every minute of life at BISC Lincoln Park! My specialism is Early Years education, and I have really enjoyed watching the children grow and develop over the year and seeing the remodeled learning environment mature into the enabling, interesting space it is today. I am passionate about high-quality, language-rich learning experiences for our children, and I believe we deliver this and much more in our classrooms and all-weather physical development area. At BISC Lincoln Park, we engage our youngest children in an enquiry based curriculum where learning is investigative and motivating. I have worked in Early Years education for 14 years, and every year is a new experience. In my first year here at Lincoln Park, I have appreciated leading a great team of professionals and I am very excited about the year to come. We will be building and extending on the excellent work, which has taken place this year to ensure that we are, as always, ambitious for all of our students.

I was born in Birmingham but spent most of my childhood in York where I went to university and gained my teaching qualification. I returned to Birmingham for my first teaching job and then moved and taught in North Carolina, at the British School in Washington D.C. and finally Dubai before coming here to Chicago! I love to travel, and this year being in Chicago has given me so many opportunities to explore places I've never yet made it to as well as a whole new city with so many different neighborhoods and areas I still haven't made it to yet!

Teaching was something I always wanted to do while growing up in Lincolnshire. Before moving to Chicago, I taught in both Key Stages 1 and 2 in a highly successful school in the outskirts of Liverpool following my graduation from University there. In my spare time, I enjoy sports and keeping fit, taking part in many sporting activities.I am also a keen sports fan and enjoy going to professional sporting events; some of which I have attended include: the Olympics, Wimbledon and the Commonwealth Games. I love that Chicago is such a vibrant city with so much to do. I enjoy exploring the city and trying out lots of different restaurants and watching the local sports teams. The lakefront is one of my favorite places in Chicago.

I am originally from Ireland, where I worked as a journalist for four years after graduating. Following a brief stint in Australia, I moved to Brighton in England to train as a teacher, where I remained for four years in before moving to Chicago in 2015. This city is incredible, and every week there is an opportunity to explore something new no matter where your tastes lie, be it sports, the arts or food. My favorite thing has been exploring all of the different neighborhoods.

I am originally from Manchester, England and have also spent a few years living near London while studying at university. I moved to Chicago in August 2015 and have loved experiencing a new city. I really enjoy traveling to lots of new places in America and seeing all the different sights this country has to offer! Outside of teaching, I have spent many years training as an allstar cheerleading athlete. I have coached and trained competitively and have had the honor of representing England at the Cheerleading World Championships in Orlando, Florida for four years. I love running the cheerleading club at BISC Lincoln Park alongside Ms. Penner, and it’s great teaching children how to stunt, jump, dance and tumble!

I was born and raised in London. I initially turned to a career in hospital pharmacy and progressed through various roles. Deciding on a new career path and keen to develop further, I attended Kingston University and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise, Nutrition and Health. While completing my degree, I worked with an active living charity, which aimed to increase the physical activity levels of families. Volunteering for such an organisation reignited a childhood dream to be a teacher and I was taken in a new direction. Upon leaving university, I began working with a charitable Saturday school for disadvantaged children, in their Science program. I then secured a place at the University of Greenwich and completed my teacher training. During three successful years at a vibrant, inner-London school, I have taught in Years 5 and 6 as well as have taken on the role of Science Curriculum Development Leader.

I love that there is always something new to do or see in Chicago. My favorite experience so far has been kayaking down the river, and I'm looking forward to the various festivals and musical performances taking place throughout the year.
