Year 1

Year 1 have been looking at Dr. Seuss and have been creating book reviews, posters and comment cards as to why they have loved the books and trying to persuade others to read them. We have also been enjoying using our ICT skills to listen and enjoy stories online.

The Outstanding Owls have loved learning about our chosen class author, Dr. Seuss and wrote interesting fact files about him. They were then given the opportunity to create their own non-fiction book about an author of their choice as part of their homework. The results were amazing and the children shared their books in class.

The Outstanding Owls also received a letter from the Year 2 students expressing how much they loved Dr. Seuss and how they would love to see some performances of his work. The Owls therefore put in a lot of effort into their rehearsals before performing extracts from ‘The Cat in the Hat.’ These were recorded on iPads before being sent to the Year 2s for viewing.

Year 2

The Terrific Tigers have been discussing their ideas for a story. They have been using adverbs, alliteration and synonyms to engage the reader.
