  • What is After School Arts with Juilliard?

    After School Arts with Juilliard is the music lesson program we are offering at British International School of Chicago, South Loop. The program provides specialized teaching from Juilliard-affiliated musicians to students from age 4 upwards. Lessons are open to children and adults from the Chicago area. 

  • What makes the program different from others?

    Students in After School Arts with Juilliard will learn from the outstanding faculty of Juilliard-affiliated artists. The teachers are leaders in their craft who have graced stages on several continents including the great performing venues of the world, from Carnegie Hall to the Harris Theater. They have established professional chamber music ensembles, premiered new compositions and collaborated with great and notable artists worldwide.

  • How are teachers chosen?

    Juilliard has carefully selected the teachers for both their musicianship and teaching skills to give students the best possible learning experience. To learn more about the teachers, please click here and read their biographies. Juilliard is renowned for educating influential and outstanding artists, and it is this experience that their artists will bring to their teaching, whether working with students who have years of experience or those who are brand new to their studies. 

  • What instruments will be offered in the program?

    We are pleased to offer instruction by Juilliard artists on the instruments below.

    • Voice (recommended for age 8+)

    If you don't see the instrument you're interested in above, please email afterschoolarts@bischicagosl.org. We are also able to offer guitar lessons with our own highly qualified teacher.   • When do the lessons take place?

    For the 2016-17 school year, lessons take place September 19, 2016 through June 30, 2017. When school is closed for break, lessons do not take place.

  • Where do lessons take place?

    All lessons take place in the music practice rooms at British International School of Chicago, South Loop.

  • How much do the lessons cost?

    Full session (60 minutes): $100
    Half session (30 minutes): $60

    Lessons are billed termly.

    Lessons are booked on a first come, first served basis.

  • What if my child misses a lesson due to illness?

    Make-up lessons cannot be accommodated in this instance (with some exceptions for unexpected long-term illness).

  • Do I need to bring my own instrument?

    Yes, please bring your own instrument to lessons.
