Kathryn Horton

Business Manager

In 2001, my husband transferred to British International School of Chicago, and I began work in the school in 2002 once my children were both settled in the local schools in our neighborhood.

My career started as a therapeutic radiographer for the first three years of my working life and took a change in direction when I entered HSBC bank. I worked for HSBC for 12 years during which time I studied and passed the Institute of Banking exams. As my children started school and with my husband in education, I transferred to our local comprehensive school as assistant to the Bursar for a large school of 1,700 students.

One of my favorite hobbies is walking in the Botanic Gardens. I also enjoy eating out and trying many of the exciting tastes of the world that are available in Chicago. I am very proud of my son and daughter, who transferred to Chicago in 2001 and both played varsity tennis at New Trier School on the North Shore and then continued playing tennis in Gustavus Adolphus College MN.  They have both travelled to California, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand with their tennis teams.

The children I have come into contact with at British International School of Chicago are the nicest children I have met since working in the world of education.
