I studied my degree in geology at University of Bristol, specializing in geochemistry and volcanology before going on to complete my postgraduate certificate in education at masters level in science (chemistry) and geology.
Most recently, I was Head of Science at a school in Surrey, where I oversaw the development of a state-of-the-art science block and created a strong science team to work within it. During my tenure, interest in science courses grew significantly among students and I also introduced new subjects such as GCSE Astronomy. Previous to this, I was Deputy Head of Science and Head of PSHE/Citizenship at a school in Hampshire. My work focused on increasing the participation at A-Level through community and career links/activities, including taking students to witness “real-life” science through trips to places such as the European Organization for Nuclear Research.
During my holidays I like to travel the world and explore different cultures; places I have visited include Borneo, Indonesia, Iceland and Peru. I also like to experience the countryside both at home and abroad through walks like the Inca Trail, the Pinnacles and the South Down Way. During the week I regularly attend pilates and enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
