This past weekend LIS hosted the U15 Volleyball championships, where our boys, coached by Ms. Carol, dominated the other schools winning all games handily, each in two sets. Our girls, coached by Ms. Victoria, won every game in the round robin play which put them into the finals with CDIS, whom they had beat earlier in the day. The girls took the first set, lost the second and fought hard in the third taking the set into extra points but came up short in the end giving them second place, ahead of MIS, and QSI.

Over at MIS the U19 basketball teams were representing LIS well. The boys, coached by Mr. Scofield, shocked a strong MIS team by beating them in their opening match which propelled them into the finals. Confucius beat QSI putting them in 5th spot then went on to lose to CDIS and MIS. CDIS fought their way to the finals to face the LIS boys. The LIS team fought hard and kept threatening to catch CDIS throughout the game but came up a bit short in the end putting them in 2nd out of 5 schools.

The girls, coached by Ms. Orla, were low on numbers throughout the season and suffered in the tournament because of it. Our girls won their matches earlierin the day to push past the others schools and to find themselves in the finals with CDIS. The girls really played well and, in spite of their low numbers, never gave up. They were “in-the-game” the entire match. As CDIS subbed in and out we were unable to but still we held the score close, even after a long day.

We had our best turn-out ever of LIS fans and supporters! Thanks to all for coming and supporting the teams!
