PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Physical education at Léman International School Chengdu is considered a cornerstone of every child’s learning journey. Students from Nursery to Year 11 take part in our physical education programme.
Our broad sports and physical education programmes make use of southwestern China’s most expansive athletic facilities, including two artificial turf soccer pitches, a gymnasium, a heated 25-meter indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, outdoor playing courts, a dance studio, a fully equipped fitness room, and a synthetic track.

A Wide Range of Activities
Our activities include soccer, basketball, swimming, athletics, tennis, volleyball, softball, badminton, and more. Each child also performs in our schoolwide cross-country competition, athletics carnival, and swimming gala days.

Athletic Education at All Levels
Children in our Early Childhood programme are exposed to games that develop their motor skills, and they are encouraged to explore gymnastics and complete obstacle courses to improve their natural dexterity.

Our students are also guided through basic rule-based team games and evasion games, which help introduce them to notions about societal bounds and following rules.

Léman offers a dedicated Early Childhood play-area, created specifically for our youngest students.

During the Elementary School years, children continue to develop their motor skills in fun-based sporting activities, and they're introduced to competitive team sports through skill and drill activities, as well as game-based scenarios and actual competitive sporting events. Throughout these years, our students are introduced to basketball, volleyball, soccer, table tennis, gymnastics, and multicultural games

In Middle and High School, the programme offers each student the opportunity to explore and focus their interests in a variety of sports with instructors who provide individualised sport-specific coaching of their skills and drills. The programme also introduces examines health and well-being, fitness plans, and dietary needs.

Swimming
Swimming is a core component of our Physical Education programme. Classes are held at our school’s beautiful heated 25-meter swimming pool.

Our school follows the Royal Life Saving Society Queensland (Australia) swimming system to help develop a lifetime love of aquatics.

Each child from our Early Childhood programme through Middle School learns to swim.

Local, National, and International Competitions
All children at Léman also have the opportunity to compete against other schools in Chengdu and Asia through the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools Association (ACAMIS) and the Chengdu International Schools Association (CISA).
