JK-B

The school year has just started but, in Junior Kindergarten B, we are already working on being ‘open minded’ and working together in our multicultural classroom.

During our first ‘centers’ activity, students were encouraged to work cooperatively and to listen to one other. Shu Chen, Conan and Jasmine were open to each other’s suggestions while building structures.

We might speak different languages, and it is not always easy to communicate. But we consider different points of view as we cooperate to achieve our goals.

Hanna, Aiden, Farrah and Leo are working together, using counters, to determine the number of animals on a farm.

Hero is sharing a picture of his family with the class. We started our school year with ‘This is me’. All students had the opportunity to talk about their families. We learned how our families are similar and at the same time different. Some are big, some are small and that many of us are from different places. We explored how to value our similarities as well as our differences.

One of our goals in JKB is to appreciate our own culture without disregarding the traditions and values of others.
