The new EAL Teacher, J.C. Trowt, graduated from University of Michigan in 2003 with a B.A. in History and English with a concentration in writing, and a Secondary Education Degree in 2006. The same year he began his teaching career in the Flint Community Schools where he worked as Chair of the English Department and Team Leader of the Eighth grade until 2012.
During this time, he began his graduate work through University of Michigan’s Rackham Graduate College in the American Cultures program, where he studied the development of English Creole languages in the Caribbean with a focus on the Lesser Antilles. On his summers off, he frequented a number of islands for study, and even made his way over to Venezuela.
