Today, Rayyan Campus celebrated School Spirit Day with the whole school coming together to celebrate our unique community and its successes. We began the day with an excellent Talent Show, which showcased our children’s confidence, performance skills and talents. It was definitely ambitious and the range of skills on show was a credit to the children, their teachers and families who practiced relentlessly over the last week. The singing and dancing was of a very high standard and the poetry recitation and storytelling was incredible. We had football skills, magic tricks, gymnastics and circus performers. Special mention to our budding young musicians, Rayan and Chadi, who showed us their skills on piano and guitar respectively.
Well done to Jacob Lukjaniek not only for reading his story ‘ After Little Red Riding Hood’ to the whole school but for winning the Nord Anglia Creative Writing Competition across 43 schools in the age Under 8 category. His story will be published in the Nord Anglia Anthology. What an achievement and I’m sure that you will agree that it was a very well written and amusing version of the traditional tale.
For the rest of the day, the children will be involved in a whole school art project, a staff V students Dodgeball game and finally share their learning highlights and successes with you in class. What a lovely way to end the term. Thank you to Ms Reid and the Student Council for organising the day and to all the staff who supported the event.
Last Thursday, Year 3 and 4 spent Thursday afternoon having a great time at school; playing games with their friends and sharing delicious pizza. This helped to promote teamwork and collaboration between the classes. The children were split into 6 groups and undertook the following activities: team building, parachute games, Kahoot on the iPads, boat building, an assault course and the Chocolate Game. It was wonderful to witness the children working together, encouraging each other and having a fantastic time.
Uniform Sale: On Wednesday, 26 April, during morning drop off between 7.00-7.45 and afternoon 13.15 - 14.00, we will be holding a second hand uniform sale near the main gate at the front of the school. The aim of the event is to allow parents to purchase unused or second hand school clothing in good condition, which has been donated to the school.
The attached list of items shows what we have available and we will accept a donation for any purchases. Any uniform sold can be used until the end of term and next term as a new uniform is being introduced and phased in from September. Please come along to this worthwhile event and pick up a bargain!!
We will be holding a workshop on bilingual learning and how the classes will work at Rayyan next year. The meeting will take place in the Rayyan Hall at 7.30am on Sunday, 30 April. If you have registered your interest in the bilingual programme, please come along to find out more about it.
ECA’s will resume on Sunday, 30 April for four weeks. Children should join the ECA they are currently registered in from Term 2.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continuous support throughout this term; for attending events, sending costumes and helping with rehearsals and for supporting your children in their learning. There has been a tremendous amount of progress made and the children have grown in confidence.
Have a wonderful, restful holiday and we wish you safe travels if you are venturing overseas. We look forward to welcoming you back to school on Sunday, 23 April, well rested and ready for Term 3.
