It has been a big week in Year 4.
On Monday, Year 4 parents were invited into school to celebrate the children’s IPC unit, Volcanoes. Year 4 students produced some amazing work which includes clay models of volcanoes, informative PowerPoint presentations and brilliant poetry linked to their English work on metaphors and similes. Whilst visiting Mrs Fathers’ class, I suddenly found myself being ushered under a desk, along with the children as a volcano warning alarm rang out across the classroom. The children were brilliant – I need to practise as my reactions were certainly not as quick as the children’s.
I’ve had many visits to my office this week as children have shared some exceptional work. These visits ranged from talented writers in Early Years and Year 6 to an exceptionally gifted mathematician in Year 1.
This week, Mr Lyon held a ski trip presentation for our Year 5 and Year 6 parents. If you would like any further information about next year’s ski trip, please contact Mr Lyon directly. The trip promises to be a fantastic opportunity for the children.
At this week’s, Friends of Compass meeting we discussed our forthcoming Blanket Sale where children from Year 1 to Year 6 will have the opportunity to set up their own market stall and sell any toys or books to other children in the school. This will take place next term. Parents will be receive further information from our team in the next few days.
A quick reminder that this is the final week for this term’s ECAs. They will resume in the second week after the holiday on Sunday, 30 April. Students will remain in their Term 2 ECAs unless parents should wish to transfer to a paid ECA - please let school reception know.
Could I also take this opportunity to remind any parents who are dropping children at the school gates before 6.45 am that this is a safety risk for your child. If you arrive before 6.45 am please keep your child in your air conditioned car. Children will not be allowed on site as there is no supervision before 6.45 am.
Posters of our school’s production of 'Oliver' are now displayed around the school. Tickets are available in the school reception area. The show is complimentary and will be held on Monday, 10 April and Tuesday, 11 April at 5.30 pm. Please be seated by 5.20pm. We look forward to seeing you there.
Re-enrolment forms for the 2017/18 Academic Year. Please ensure these forms are submitted to our Admissions Team as seats in several years are limited and cannot be guaranteed until received. As a reminder, 2017/18 Tuition Fees will remain the same - which means parents and companies will not see an increase next year.
On behalf of the Gharaffa Team, I wish you all a relaxing weekend.
